I am so excited to share that I have been invited to be a co-facilitator for the Minnesota Visual Journal Collective beginning in January 2020! This group has been very near and dear to my heart for many years and it is an incredible honor to be asked to help facilitate the group alongside Briana Goetzen of Orange Spiral Arts.
Our first meeting of the year is next Monday (January 20, 2020 – 6:00-8:00pm) and our topic will be: How to create a daily journaling practice and ways to use collage in this practice.
For the first part of the meeting, we’ll address our biggest obstacles in creating art consistently, how to create space for a daily habit, ways to set realistic goals and how to hold ourselves accountable. We’ll also discuss ways to use collage and papers we find in our daily routine as part of our creative habit.

In the second half of the meeting, we’ll spend time creating a decorated card with a motivational word or phrase to help keep us inspired and motivated when we go home and begin our daily journal practices.
For the meeting, bring a journal or sketchbook, your favorite art supplies, glue sticks or other adhesive, any papers from your day that you would like to work with (junk mail, lists, receipts, ticket stubs, etc…) and your favorite inspirational word or phrase. Some papers and glue sticks will be available for use and I’ll also have a list of words/phrases in case you need some ideas. We will also set aside time at the end of the meeting to share our work so please bring any journals you’d like to share with the group (you can also share the work you create in the meeting).
I look forward to seeing everyone next Monday night at 6:00pm at Wet Paint (1684 Grand Ave, St. Paul). The meetings are free, but do require an RSVP so please be sure to register via the Wet Paint site or call the store 651-698-6431 to attend.

I hope your first meeting went well on the 20rh. I just realised that I hadn’t been getting your posts on my IG feed and then saw that you hadn’t posted this year? I hope everything is okay with you and your lovely family. Lots of love Gilly xx
